Structure of the Air Venture Flying Camps
The camps are structured to provide everything you will need to achieve the first milestone in gaining your pilots licence…your first solo! That’s SOLO meaning you fly the aeroplane by yourself, no instructor!

Whilst the camps are structured to provide all the theory and flying training you will need to prepare for your first solo, on average it takes between 10 and 15 flying training hours to achieve your first solo. Some will take longer, it just depends on the individual as flying training is competency based. As
such, it is most likely you will not achieve your first solo until after the camp. However, the Air Venture Flying Camp is the perfect training environment with an intensive 7 day program to give you the best chance of achieving your first solo!

What’s Included?

Flying Training
10.5 hours of flying training is provided in our partner owned Cessna 172 aircraft. This covers all the lessons from Effects of Controls right through to Circuits (taking off and landing).
If for any reason you do not fly the full 10.5 hours within the camp (such as weather delays), the remaining hours will be held as a credit for you to use within 12 months of the date the camp commenced.

Theory Training
Prior to each flying sequence a full brief of approximately 1hr will be conducted. This will cover everything you will need to know to undertake that lesson.

Each phase of your training (explained further below under Path to Becoming a Pilot) will involve undertaking a theory assessment. A pre-solo theory exam is required before your first solo flight. All theory knowledge required to undertake this exam will be covered throughout the course of the camp.
You will be required to undertake some self-study during the camp between flying lessons and a small amount of preparation prior to the camp (explained further in section What do I need to do before the camp).

Meals and Accommodation
All meals, snacks and accommodation are included in the cost of the camp.
Accommodation is provided onsite in dormitory style air-conditioned buildings, with segregation for males/females/leaders.
Participants will be required to bring a torch, their own toiletries including a towel, pillow and either a sleeping bag or sheets/blanket.
